YEREVAN. – Whoever votes for this draft law will thus declare a political war against the people, said Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan via Facebook live session addressing the suggested draft law on changes in law on parliament’s procedures.

“By urgency order a legislative initiative was brought in the National Assembly agenda and was to be put on for vote aiming to prevent the extraordinary parliamentary elections. Not only fast but mid-term as well and so on,” declared PM.

According to him the author of this draft is one of the MPs from the Republican party whose name PM did not disclose.

“I’d like to ask all of us to remember about our principles of love and solidarity in context of these discussions,” he said urging to exclude any intolerance, hatred or self-offence during these political processes.

“The aim of this draft is to prevent extraordinary parliamentary elections and bringing Armenia’s people’s authority state into a political crisis that will be impossible to solve,” he said. According to him, this draft means that if National Assembly meeting on some conditions is not held, e.g. in case people block the building of NA then that meeting should be considered “interrupted” instead of “not held”.

“This means the timeframe envisaged by the Constitution or law is dismissed. If the NA meeting is interrupted for a week, a month or six months, that meeting will de jure continue” said PM.

PM noted that those forces who participated in the creation of this draft bill and are apt to vote for it are virtually disclosing themselves as antirevolutionary.

“My perception is definite: whoever votes for or upholds this draft virtually declares a political war against people” said Pashinyan.
