President Armen Sarkissian has signed executive orders, pursuant to which the six ministers representing the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party have been dismissed.

During Tuesday night’s rally in capital city Yerevan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that he had proposed to the President to dismiss these ministers as well as all provincial governors representing the PAP and the ARF.

But Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, who was nominated to this position by the PAP, had stated that he wished to continue working in the government.

The National Assembly (NA) on Tuesday adopted the controversial bill on making amendments to the NA Rules of Procedure. But as per PM Pashinyan and the NA “Way Out” (Yelk) Faction, this proposed law will enable to prevent the holding of a snap parliamentary election, once the PM resigns from office.

The former ruling Republican Party of Armenia, ARF, and PAP-supported “Tsarukyan” factions in parliament have voted for this bill.

Subsequently, and upon the call by the PM, thousands of people blocked the NA building, from Tuesday night to early Wednesday morning.

PM Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday will continue his talks with the NA political forces, and in connection with conducting a snap parliamentary election in Armenia.
