The United States should lift sanctions against Iran that relate to humanitarian aid and civil aviation, the UN International Court of Justice said in a statement.

“In light of the foregoing, the Court concludes that, at the present stage of the proceedings, some of the rights asserted by Iran under the 1955 Treaty are plausible in so far as they relate to the importation and purchase of goods required for humanitarian needs, such as (i) medicines and medical devices; and (ii) foodstuffs and agricultural commodities; as well as goods and services required for the safety of civil aviation,” the statement said.

Iran filed a lawsuit to the International Court of Justice against the US on July 17, as  the US President Donald Trump’s statements keep violating several provisions of the 1955 Treaty on Amity, Economic Relations and Consular Rights.

US lawyers argued that the United Nations Court should not have jurisdiction in the dispute, the friendship treaty is no longer valid, however, by imposing sanctions on Tehran, the US does not violate the provisions.
