Renowned opera singer Montserrat Caballé has passed away aged 85 in hospital in Barcelona, Spain, El Español reported citing hospital sources.
She had been hospitalized in mid-September.
The cause of death is not reported yet.
Her funeral will take place on October 8:
Montserrat Caballé had visited the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR) in June 2013, and in October 2014 when she also gave an exclusive concert in capital city Stepanakert, and devoted to the 20th anniversary of the ceasefire in the Karabakh conflict.
In June 2013, and with an executive order of the President of Armenia, Caballé was awarded the Medal of Honor.
