Archeological excavations are still in progress at the tomb field in the area of Nor Karmiravan village of Martakert Region of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR).

The Facebook page of the Artsakh Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism has informed that Minister Lernik Hovhannisyan had visited the site to get familiarized with these excavations.

“The Khachenaget Valley summarizes rich archeological information in itself,” the minister stressed. “As a result of the excavations, human-shaped monuments have been found, and which are important, especially in the sense that they are located in their own place, in natural state.

“The work done at the excavation site allows concluding that this area was actively inhabited at the beginning of the 1st millennium BC. So, more extensive excavations and major studies are needed that will enable to restore the history and culture of that period.”
