YEREVAN. – Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on Friday met with African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat, who is in Armenia within the framework of the ongoing 17th Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), in capital city Yerevan.

The FM noted that the expansion of relations with African countries is one of Armenia’s foreign policy priorities, and the Armenian side is ready to take practical steps to more effectively use the existing potential, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. In this context, the Armenian FM and the AUC chief underscored the International Organization of La Francophonie.

The interlocutors exchanged views also on the prospects for expansion of Armenia’s presence in the region, and the potential domains of cooperation.

In addition, Mnatsakanyan and Mahamat focused on the matters that are on the agenda of the 17th La Francophonie Summit, as well as on Armenia’s priorities as the new OIF chairing country and the respective planned joint activities.
