YEREVAN. – Situation on the line of contact at the moment remains the same as during the recent time, deputy chief of the Armenian armed forces, Major General Andranik Margaryan told reporters.

“We will give a worthy response to any encroachment,” he said.

Asked about the actions of the Armenian-Russian United Group of Troops in the event of a threat to Armenia, Margaryan emphasized  that in case of any danger for Armenia “we are obliged to use all forces and means.”

 They include both the group and all those forces that are envisaged to ensure security of the republic.

“The Group is intended to ensure the security of Armenia and the region. That is, it concerns all directions where Armenia may be in danger,” Major General noted.

Commenting on the use of forces in connection with the escalation of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the general stressed that the Armenian armed forces fulfill their duties.
