YEREVAN. – The Armenian authorities are interested in creating an attractive business environment for investors, said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a joint press conference with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau.

According to him, Trudeau declared his readiness to intensify Canadian investments in Armenia as the Canadian companies have already been established in Armenia.

Pashinyan highlighted the need to correctly represent the ongoing processes in the country which are related to combating corruption, as sometimes the process also affects foreign companies.

“However, our goal is not to try to prevent investment or even expel companies. On the contrary, we want to create an environment where business will not depend on the whims of officials and so that ecology matters are taken into account to be confident that any cooperation cannot be above national and popular interests,” he said.

Trudeau, in his turn, noted that Canadian entrepreneurs show interest in different areas: water management, infrastructure, and the implementation of liquid and solid waste.

Asked to comment on the opening of the embassy, Trudeau noted that this depends both on the development of business relations, and relations between people.

The PM promised to return to the question later.
