Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan appointed another two ministers.

Based on the Prime Minister’s proposal, President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian signed a decree to appoint Tigran Khachatryan the Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia. By another decree, Gegham Gevorgyan has been appointed Minister of Agriculture of Armenia.

Three new provincial governors have been designated at Tuesday’s special Cabinet session of the government of Armenia.

Accordingly, the country’s former Deputy Chief of Police Hunan Poghosyan has been appointed Governor of Syunik Province, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Davit Gevorgyan has assumed the office of Governor of Aragatsotn Province, and Hambardzum Matevosyan has been designated Governor of Armavir Province.

The government of Armenia on Tuesday approved the package of amendments to the Electoral Code and the related bills.

Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan presented this package at Tuesday's Cabinet session. He noted that the main objective of electoral reforms is the establishment of democratic institutions in Armenia, and, accordingly, a draft has been developed for making amendments to the Electoral Code and related laws.

Next, the package will be sent to the National Assembly.

Russian border guards who are stationed in Armenia have apprehended another trespasser at the border with Turkey.

An unidentified person was crossing the Armenian state border with Turkey. The border trespasser was detained. According to preliminary information, he is a Turkish citizen.

He is the second trespasser detained over the last two days.

The U.S. sanctions against Iran are specifically targeted against certain companies, George Kent, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the European and Eurasian Bureau, told reporters in Yerevan when asked about the impact of US sanctions.

Speaking about Armenia-Iran relations , Kent said “we understand the challenges for Armenia in terms of regional trade”, but.

“The issue is not about small traders engaged in trade, but Armenian companies just like Georgian and Azerbaijani companies need to understand who their customers are. We are encouraging the companies not to trade with certain Iranian entities because they may be subject to the sanctions,” the State Department official said.

Kent believes that some US officials engaged in sanctions would visit next month to continue conversations with Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Armenia’s Davit Dadikyan became the gold medalist in the Youth Men 90+ kg competition at the World Armwrestling and World Para-Armwrestling Championship in Antalya.

Dadikyan became world champion by defeating two Kazakh, two Russian, and one Turkish opponent.

Davit Dadikyan serves in the Armenian army.
