The US President Donald Trump said in an interview to NYT that he believes the Saudi journalist is dead.
According to him, there is a high-level Saudi role in Mr. Khashoggi’s assassination.
He did not accused Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of being responsible for the death of the journalist, but he acknowledged that the allegations that the prince ordered the killing raised questions about the US alliance with Saudi Arabia and had became one of the most serious foreign policy crises of his presidency.
Speaking about allies, Trump has begun to distance himself from Prince Mohammed, saying he barely knows him. And he has played down the relationship that Kushner has cultivated with the Saudi heir.
