Local officials and eyewitnesses have said there were explosions at several election precincts in Afghanistan’s capital city of Kabul, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported. 

No other details of the incident are reported.

Parliamentary elections have kicked off Saturday in Afghanistan.

Voters in the country are casting their ballots amid heavy security and threats from the Taliban, the BBC reported.

More than 2,500 candidates—including many women—are vying for 250 parliamentary seats.
