Armenia could become a gateway to Europe for Lebanon, said Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri during the meeting with Armenian acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Saturday in Lebanon, Armenian Government’s press service reported.

During the meeting, Pashinyan praised Berri’s contribution to the implementation of initiatives aimed at strengthening Armenian-Lebanese friendship. The Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, in his turn, welcomed Pashinyan’s visit to Beirut, noting that he would give a new impetus to the friendly relations between the two countries.

“Our brothers, the Armenians, have representatives in the Lebanese parliament and government, and are making valuable contribution to Lebanon’s progress,” he said.

The sides highlighted the expansion of inter-parliamentary ties and the active work of friendship groups.

The Lebanese Parliament Speaker said Armenia could become a gateway to Europe for Lebanon, and Lebanon - a window to the Middle East for Armenia.

The parties exchanged views on the current political situation and developments in both countries and highlighted Armenia’s participation in the United Nations’ UNIFIL peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.
