A school competition was held in Gyumri, Armenia, on Feb. 12. One hundred and fifty students took part in the Armenian literature competition. On the other hand, 16 students took part in the informatics competition and only six in the astronomy competition.

“In our age of modern technologies children do not read much,” Gohar Alexanyan, Director of Senior School #3, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Informatics and astronomy are taught at a low level.

“Astronomy is an optional subject, and few students opt for astronomy,” said Grigor Harutyunyan, Director of School #20.
