YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Acting Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on Tuesday received Harlem Désir, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Representative on Freedom of the Media.

The interlocutors lauded the close and productive cooperation between the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media and the relevant state-run agencies of Armenia, and the Armenian government’s efforts to ensure freedom of speech and of press in the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

They stressed that this visit is a good opportunity to get familiarized first-hand with the recent changes in Armenia, and to outline the steps to be taken toward more effectively tapping into the potential of collaboration along the lines of the mandate of the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media.

Reflecting on the recent political developments in Armenia, acting FM Mnatsakanyan reaffirmed the Armenian government’s commitment to continue the reforms to strengthen democracy in the country.

He added that clear tasks are put at the core of the broad mandate which the people of Armenia have given to the authorities.

And on the “road” to fulfilling these tasks, both Mnatsakanyan and Désir underscored cooperation between Armenia and international organizations.
