YEREVAN. – Anna Naghdalyan, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia, confirmed Yerevan’s position with respect to the prospects for Azerbaijan joining the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

At Wednesday’s press briefing, she noted that Armenia will apply all respective mechanisms if a matter of Azerbaijan becoming a member in the CSTO is put on the agenda of this organization.

Earlier it was announced that in such a case, Armenia will use its veto power.

Separately, the Armenian MFA spokesperson noted that a matter of Azerbaijan joining the EAEU is not on the latter’s agenda, and, in accordance with the regulations of this union, there are certain membership terms.

“[But] if there will be such a matter, Armenia will take appropriate steps,” Naghdalyan added.
