Relations with Armenia are of strategic importance to the United States, the US Security Advisor John Bolton told reporters on Thursday in Yerevan.

According to him, since 1997, this is the first visit by a US Security Advisor to Armenia.

John Bolton has already met with Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Acting Foreign and Defense Ministers, and Secretary of the Security Council.

During the meeting with Pashinyan, the US Security Advisor noted that relations with Armenia are of strategic importance for the United States.

He expressed the readiness of the American side to help resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict both within the OSCE Minsk Group and with “other possible" steps.

According to him, the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is in the interests not only of Armenia and Azerbaijan, but also of the United States.

The sides also discussed the results of Bolton’s visit to Russia, sanctions against Iran, and the situation in Syria, as well as highlighted the importance of activating US investments in the Armenian economy.
