The Turkish Prosecutor's Office interviewed 38 employees of the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul as part of the investigation into the murder of opposition journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the Istanbul prosecutor's office said in a statement.

“Since Oct. 19, the investigators have recorded statements of 38 consulate employees as “witnesses”, with five more staffers yet to give their statements, said the sources”, Yeni Safak reported.

Journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who is a US resident and Washington Post columnist, has not been seen since entering Saudi Arabia's consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

Saudi Arabian state media spread a message to the country's Prosecutor General, Khashoggi’s was killed as a result of a quarrel with the consulate’s staff. A total of 18 people are being detained, while the Saudi authorities noted that they are seeking to establish the truth and bring all the perpetrators to justice.
