The US Secretary Advisor John Bolton’s visit to Armenia is very important and far-reaching, Armen Rustamyan, head of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party faction at the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia said during Friday’s briefings at parliament.

According to him, this region is of great geopolitical importance.

“Hints made by Bolton are really vital both for the region and for Armenia, at least from the point of view of implementing its foreign policy,” Rustamyan noted adding that Armenia should have a stable foreign policy course, and the position on various issues should be clear and predictable for both Russian and Western partners.

According to him, Yerevan should have a clear goal to demonstrate to everyone that its intentions are not directed against someone, while Armenia is based solely on its own interests.

Bolton understands the negative consequences of strained relations between Washington and Moscow and Tehran, and does not want their partners in the region to suffer, which is important for the Armenian side, said Rustamyan.

Speaking about the supply of weapons to the region, Armen Rustamyan noted that co-chair countries should not sell weapons to the parties to the conflict, or at least they should provide it in such quantities that the balance of forces was not disturbed in favor of any of the parties.

“As soon as the balance is broken, wars and aggressive actions will immediately begin. Armenia has already lagged behind on this issue. And if Bolton hinted at restoring the military balance between the parties, as well as for the Armenian side to have new weapons that would contribute to the alignment of forces, then why not,” the ARF head concluded.
