The businessman Samvel Alexanyan, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary faction, who is holds a monopoly on the import of a number of essential products (wheat, oil, sugar, fats, medicines) does not rule out a rise in the price for imported products. In an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am he said: "Everything is rising in price throughout the world. I cannot say what is going to happen in a month."
 
Commenting on the rumors about the closure of his "Yerevan CITY" store chain, Alexanyan said that some media outlets are "spreading stuff and nonsense." Closure of the store chain is out of the question.

The other day one of the Armenian newspaper published an article about a bakery in Sevan owned by Alexanyan. The newspaper reported that tax officers "pressed hard" the plant and a number of shops in Yerevan owned or co-owned by Alexanyan. Tax officers conduct regular inspections of his businesses, Alexanyan said. "Nothing new about it," he said.
