South Korean representative Kim Jong-yang was elected the new Interpol president, BBC reported

Earlier, the White House said they supported the South Korean candidate.

According to The Times, Russian Alexander Prokopchuk was favorite to be the next head of Interpol.

The Ukrainian and Lithuanian authorities opposed his candidacy and threatened to quit the organization if it Russian head it.
