The 47th anniversary of the establishment of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was marked in Yerevan on December 3.

The event was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, government representatives and other guests.

In his welcoming speech, UAE Ambassador to Armenia Jassim Mohammed Mubarak Al Qasimi noted "on this historic occasion, I would like to hail the bilateral relations between Armenia and the UAE. These relations found their roots in the principles of cooperation and mutual respect, and evolved into a strategic partnership between the two countries and peoples over the recent years.

Today, Armenia and the UAE are actively cooperating in politics, economy, science, education, culture and other fields."

"The level of commercial, economic and cultural exchanges are in constant increase and a strong indicator of development of this relationship is the increase in trade between the countries during this year.

The confidence of the UAE business sectors in the Armenian economy resulted in the increase and the development of the economic relations between the two friendly countries and the increase of the UAE investment in Armenia," UAE Ambassador to Armenia added.

He stressed that the trade turnover between the countries increased to $ 250 million last year.

In turn, Armenia's acting Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyannoted that "this year we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the United Arab Emirates.

Within 20 years, relations between the two countries have been developed in the atmosphere of trust and mutual respect."
