YEREVAN. – The matter of CSTO Secretary General will be resolved by consensus.

The Acting Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, on Wednesday told the aforementioned to reporters.

To the remark that Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov had stated that the CSTO leaders’ summit was postponed taking into consideration the respective request by Armenia, Pashinyan responded: “And [Armenian PM’s spokesperson] Arman Yeghoyan said that Armenia has not petitioned to anyone for any request, or proposal (…). We [Armenia] have said that we have our candidate [for Secretary General] at the CSTO, and we consistently continue to negotiate regarding our candidate.”

Asked whether during his forthcoming visit these statements would be discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the acting PM responded: “We discuss all possible matters during the meetings. But I don’t think that we should discuss that matter with the president of the Russian Federation. There are more important matters [to be discussed].”

And asked whether at Thursday’s talk he will demand an explanation from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who had told the ambassador of Azerbaijan—which is not a member in the CSTO—about what was discussed during the closed meeting of this organization, Nikol Pashinyan responded: “Of course, we will speak about our issues; I will not put [it] off.”
