YEREAVAN. – Relations with Russia are a priority, Armenia’s acting PM Nikol Pashinyan said in an interview with Russia 24 television.

When asked about his international and economic agenda ahead of the upcoming parliamentary vote, Pashinyan said the economic part is the main thing in the current electoral processes.

“We have an ambitious task of turning Armenia from agricultural country into a country of technology and industry,” he said, adding that this an option to overcome poverty which, unfortunately, has high rates just as unemployment.

Pashinyan is confident that this problem can be tackled if every citizen takes effort.

“It is very important for our people to realize their role not in the process of political changes only, but the process of economic changes,” he said.

“As for the international agenda, I have repeatedly said that there will be no dramatic movements in the Armenia’s policy. We are committed to the further development of strategic partnerships with Russia, we are interested and will work to increase the effectiveness of our membership in the Eurasian Union, in the CSTO and in the CIS.

Our agenda also includes the development of relations with the European Union and the United States. Relations with China and India are very important for us, as well as relations with our neighbors - Georgia and Iran. We are going to develop relations with all our international partners, but not at the expense of our other relations. Of course, relations with Russia are a priority for us, ”Pashinyan stressed.
