A group of soldiers was hit by an avalanche on Wednesday not far from the city of Sisian, but were found in good health, the spokesperson for the Armenian Defense Ministry said.

A search operation was launched to find contract military serviceman Hayk Karamyan who was trapped under snow. However, he was found dead on Thursday.

Armenia’s acting Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on Wednesday met with Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov of Azerbaijan on the margins of the 25th OSCE Ministerial Council in Milan, Italy.

The meeting was preceded by Mnatsakanyan’s talk with OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

This third meeting between the Armenian and Azerbaijani ministers was also aimed at getting more thoroughly familiarized with one another’s positions and outlooks on the Artsakh peace process.

In a statement issued on Thursday the Co-Chairs said Mnatsakanyan and Mammadyarov agreed to meet again in early 2019.

A wiretapped phone conversation between Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and director of the National Security Service Artur Vanestyan and Special Investigation Service head Sasun Khachatryan appeared on the web.

The interlocutors are discussing the arrest of the then CSTO secretary general Yuri Khachaturov and Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan.

The leaders of 11 political forces participated in unprecedented election debates live on the Public Television of Armenia three days ahead of the December 9 early parliamentary vote.

The participants presented their views on economic reforms, fight against corruption, the Karabakh issue and Armenia’s security.

The opponents traded accusations, but the fiercest debate unfolded between the acting PM Nikol Pashinyan and number one in the proportional list of ex-ruling Republican Party of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan.

Acting PM Nikol Pashinyan participated in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council that was held in Saint Petersburg.

Speaking during the meeting, Pashinyan said participation in the Eurasian Economic Union is a priority for the Armenian government.

Armenia will assume presidency of the Union in 2019.
