YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian received delegation of the European Union headed by Heidi Hautala which has arrived to Armenia to monitor the early parliamentary elections to be held in Armenia on December 9.

The party spoke about the Armenia-EU relations and stressed the importance of a speedy ratification of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between Armenia and EU for making these relations more efficient and practical, president’s office said in a statement.

Underscoring that free and fair elections are critical for the future and advancement of the country, President Sarkissian stressed the importance of forming traditions and culture of parliamentary democracy, establishment in the country of strong and viable democratic institutions and mature civil society.
