Armenia ranked lasts among the Eastern Partnership states on SMB’s shares in GDP, head of the EU delegation to Armenia Piotr Switalski said during the “Empowering Regions through High Tech-Forum 2018” conference at the Gyumri Technology Center.

He referred to data from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), according to which the share of SMBs in Armenia’s GDP reaches only 30%, while in other Eastern Partnership countries it comes to 70%.

Three years ago, SMB in Armenia was considered as an instrument for solving social problems, fighting poverty and unemployment, he said adding that now the Armenian government realizes that SMB is the key to the economic growth of the country and the development of the regions.
