The US President Donald Trump again slammed the idea of creating a European military.
The idea of a European Military didn’t work out too well in W.W. I or 2. But the U.S. was there for you, and always will be. All we ask is that you pay your fair share of NATO. Germany is paying 1% while the U.S. pays 4.3% of a much larger GDP - to protect Europe. Fairness!

In early November, Macron offered to create a “pan-European army” independent of the US, including for cyber security. The head of France said that Europe faces numerous attempts to interfere in its internal democratic processes and cyberspace, the EU also needs to defend itself against China, Russia and even the US.
Macron’s proposal to create a pan-European army was backed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, but was sharply criticized by US President Donald Trump.
