Preventing genocides is a constant daily effort, CoE Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatovic said during The Second Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide.

According to her, after WW2, the countries decided to hold accountable those responsible. This was reflected in the adoption of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

Over the years it was failed to ensure the implementation of documents. Genocides continue, people are deliberately killed before the eyes of the world community.

Preventing genocides is a daily work, one cannot wait for the first victims to take action, she added.
