YEREVAN. – After the velvet revolution, it was very important to get the legitimacy of the elections, Mathilde Bugger, observer from SILBA, the Danish election monitoring NGO, told Armenian News- NEWS.am.

“After the velvet revolution and big turnover of people involving in it, it was very important to get the legitimacy of the election, so that the mandate of people was given to the leader they want to see,” she said.

According to Bugger, she was very surprised by the law level of young people at the polling stations.

“I haven’t seen the demographics yet, but I was very surprised how much few young people were interested in the voting,” she added.

According to Kristoffer Sorensen, last year, at the parliamentary election, their NGO was rejected but finally got accredited.

“This time, dealing with CEC has been much easier,” Kristoffer added.

SILBA is a non-profit cross-political youth organization that was among foreign organization which were monitoring Sunday's parliamentary election in Armenia. Twenty-five young observers from Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, UK, and America monitored polling stations in Yerevan.
