STEPANAKERT. – It is premature to draw some conclusions from Azerbaijan’s withdrawal of army divisions from the border with Armenia, said Davit Babayan, press secretary of the President of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR), speaking to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

It has become known that Azerbaijan will be replacing with border guards its military divisions at two sectors—Gazakh and Aghstafa—of its border with Armenia.

“Of course, it would be ideal to withdraw the military divisions all along the border with Armenia and the Line of Contact with Artsakh; but that’s from the fantasy domain,” Babayan noted. “Also, it should be followed as to where those divisions will be moved.

“Artsakh has 30 years of conflict knowhow with the state of Azerbaijan, not the Azerbaijani people, since the [Azerbaijani] people themselves have become hostages of the ruling elite.

“So, without losing vigilance, the changes should be followed, and relevant conclusions [should be] made and steps [should be] taken.”
