The Taliban claims that talks with the US envoy focused on the withdrawal of NATO troops from Afghanistan, the release of prisoners and the cessation of attacks on civilians by pro-government forces, AP reported

US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad met with the Taliban in the UAE, while the representatives from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and the Emirates also took part in the meeting.

The Afghan government sent a delegation to the UAE, but it did not participate in the talks.

Zalmay Khalilzad, who tweeted that talks held this week in the United Arab Emirates were "productive," was in Pakistan on Wednesday to meet with the chief of the country's army before heading to the Afghan capital Kabul later in the day.
