YEREVAN. – After the velvet revolution, Armenia should conduct a new policy toward Russia and change the nature of relations between the two countries.

The supporters of Western integration stated about the aforementioned at Tuesday’s small demonstration outside the Russian embassy in capital city Yerevan, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reported from the scene.

As per these protesters, the incumbent Armenian authorities continue the same policy as their predecessors, in terms of Russia.

These pro-Westerners demanded that the 102nd Russian Military Base in Gyumri be taken out of Armenia. They contended this demand of theirs with Russian soldier Valery Permyakov’s brutal killing of Gyumri’s Avetisyan family in 2015, and with a Gyumri woman being beaten to death recently by another Russian military serviceman.

In their view, the aforesaid Russian military base is a threat to not only Armenian citizens, but also to the Armenian state.

The picketers plan to convey their demand to the Russian ambassador.
