Moscow assesses the Karabakh conflict’s negotiation process with a cautious optimism.
The Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mikhail Bocharnikov, stated about the above-said, Minval.az reported.
“I treat with a cautious optimism the matter that a more favorable climate has been created for the negotiation process,” Bocharnikov said at a press conference in Azerbaijan’s capital city of Baku. “I believe that the passing year wasn’t without results [in this regard].”
He noted that in 2018, “A foundation has been laid; meetings were held of the foreign ministers of the conflict sides: Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
“I recently heard [Azerbaijan FM] Mr. [Elmar] Mammadyarov’s assessments on that topic,” the Russian diplomat added. “A meeting between the two ministers is scheduled in January 2019. Russia welcomes this trend; we [Russia] will continue to assist in the establishment of such climate.”
