YEREVAN. – The velvet revolution in Armenia has had a positive reaction in the world.

Hripsime Grigoryan, Chairperson of the State Tourism Committee of Armenia, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday. In her words, this revolution has had a positive impact also on the tourist flow into the country.

“An 8.8% growth [in tourism] was recorded in the first nine months of 2018,” she noted. “But new legal regulations are needed for tourism development and tapping of the [respective] potential. A more favorable investment climate should be created [in Armenia].”

Grigoryan added that the State Tourism Committee cooperates with international partners, and informed that the $55mn loan which the World Bank provided for road repair and infrastructure development in Armenia, as well as the $3.5mn loan which the EU gave to conduct the country’s marketing, was being used.
