From January 1, 2019, Germany will become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the sixth time, DW reported.

Among the UN Security Council’s priorities, the German Government considers the protection of women, increasing attention to climate change issues, and advocating the concept of peacekeeping necessary tools for resolving conflicts.

The German government once again urged to reform the UN Security Council.

According to Berlin, the current composition of the permanent members of the Security Council no longer reflects the multipolarity of the world, nor the largest contributors to the UN treasury.

Germany is the fourth largest contributor after the US, Japan and China, in 2018 it donated $5.4 billion to the UN, and the same amount will be allocated in 2019.
