Turkey closed the Bosphorus Strait on Tuesday for the passage of ships due to snow and low visibility, Bloomberg reported referring to the GAC Shipping Turkey port operator.

Turkish authorities are not yet able to predict the timing of the resumption of movement of vessels through the strait.

The Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits are key transit points for the export of Russian oil and grain from the Black Sea ports. Over 120 million tons of oil as well as oil products are transported via them annually.

The closure of the straits leads to disruptions in the supply of oil from Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
