The US downgraded the diplomatic status of the European Union office in Washington, the Express reported.
“We don't exactly know when they did it, because they conveniently forgot to notify us. I can confirm that this has not been well received in Brussels,” Mr. O’Sullivan, who has served as the EU’s ambassador to Washington since 2014 revealed.
According to diplomats, a reduction in the position of the mission from a member state’s diplomatic status to the level of an international organization could occur in October-November 2018.
One of the EU diplomats working in Washington stressed that in this case it’s not just a protocol.
