State Rep. Mari Manoogian, Armenian by origin, was sworn in officially as representative for the 40th House District for the 2019-2020 legislative session.
The swearing-in ceremony marked the formal opening of Michigan’s 100th Legislature.
“I am incredibly honored to have been chosen to represent the people of my community. The people of Michigan are tired of business-as-usual politics, and I am eager to bring a new voice and perspective to the House at a time when we need to work together to ensure the wellbeing of all Michiganders. Whether it is addressing the high cost of prescription drugs, fixing our roads, or properly funding our schools – I’m ready to get to work,” she said.
Manoogian is a great-grandchild of survivors of the Armenian Genocide from Sepastia and Keghi on her mother’s side, and Yerzinga and Keghi on her father’s side.
