YEREVAN. – The authorities have accepted the Bright Armenia Party’s proposal to establish a standing committee on Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) affairs in the new parliament, Zhamanak (Time) newspaper reported.

“But the ‘Prosperous Armenia’ [Party (PAP)] faction [in the National Assembly (NA) also] has aspirations towards the committee, and [PAP MP] Mikayel Melkumyan could head the committee to be set up, [and] as compensation for the position of NA Vice President [which he held in the preceding legislature].

“The PAP also could have the [NA Standing] Committee on Human Rights and Public Affairs, which could be headed by [PAP MP] Naira Zohrabyan because the [majority] My Step block is taking the European integration [standing] committee headed by her,” Zhamanak wrote.
