YEREVAN. – Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has previously stated that he will negotiate on the Karabakh issue, representing solely Armenia’s position, not Nagorno-Karabakh’s position, and he is faithful to this precept.

Majority “My Step” Faction MP Ruben Rubinyan, a candidate for Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, on Wednesday stated the aforesaid in parliament.

In his words, the agreements that were reached in Vienna and Saint Petersburg remain on the agenda of the Armenian party to the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict.

“There is no contradiction in the subtext of the informal conversation between Pashinyan and [Azerbaijan President Ilham] Aliyev, in Dushanbe,” Rubinyan added. “The matter is that armed clashes on the line of contact between the parties are ruled out. In essence, the special link between Yerevan and Baku, [and] which allowed the tension to considerably weaken—at least at this phase, was established as a result of that contact.”
