YEREVAN. – Armenia’s relations with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) are more of an imitation.

Hovhannes Igityan, an MP from the majority “My Step” Faction, on Wednesday noted the abovementioned in the National Assembly.

In his words, despite the dominant view at the European Union (EU), Armenia has gone considerably ahead, since its people have become more demanding.

“It seems to me we [Armenia] will not have problems with the EU,” Igityan said. “As for our membership in the EAEU [which also comprises Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan], Armenia has for the first time tried to express about its interests, [and] which was quite unusual for the people sitting there. If we are EAEU members, then we want to see free movement, and some countries don’t like that.”

Also, the Armenian MP stressed the importance of setting up new parliamentary friendship groups, especially considering the high international standing of Armenia.

In addition, as per Hovhannes Igityan, active work should be done also with the parliament of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR).
