The US President Donald Trump denied the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to use a military plane for a trip abroad, BBC reported.

Pelosi intended to use military aircraft to travel to Belgium with the NATO headquarters as part of a congressional delegation, as well as to visit Afghanistan to meet US troops.

"Out of consideration for the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay and to ensure his team can assist as needed, President Trump has cancelled his delegation's trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland," White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement.

According to Drew Hammill, Pelosi's deputy chief of staff, her travel to Afghanistan had required a stop in Brussels to allow pilots to rest, and to meet top NATO commanders "to affirm the US ironclad commitment" to the alliance.

A spokesman for the US Defense Department said that Pelosi had requested support from the Pentagon for a foreign trip and received it, but the president has the right to cancel the speaker’s trip.
