Egyptian security forces eliminated 14 militants and confiscated a ton of explosives during an operation in the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula, AP reported. 

According to the source, clashes with militants occurred outside the city of el-Arish, extremists intended to set roadside bombs in the cities of Rafah and Sheikh Zuweyid.

Other weapons caches including explosives were found in the more central Sinai Jabal al-Halal mountain area.
