Azerbaijan is tired of Aliyev clan’s power, Russian and Ukrainian citizen blogger Alexander Lapshin told reporters on Tuesday in Yerevan.

“The country’s living conditions are worse than in Armenia, although there are colossal oil revenues. Do not underestimate Azerbaijani people. There are many intelligent people in Azerbaijan, they want to live in a free country. They saw what happened in Armenia and want the same,” the blogger noted.

According to him, something will happen in Azerbaijan over the next few years.

“But whether it will be good for Armenia is a big question. Those who come to replace them will act in the interests of the people and it is not clear how this will turn out,” Lapshin added.

According to him, Azerbaijani people are ready for peace, but the leadership is not.

“Peace with Armenia will lead to the fall of the Aliyev clan, and they will procrastinate the situation. They do not need peace, but an image of an enemy and to retain the power at any cost,” he said.

As reported earlier, in late 2016, Israeli, Russian, and Ukrainian citizen blogger Alexander Lapshin was detained in Belarus, and based on his international arrest warrant by Azerbaijan. Baku had “blacklisted” him fo visiting Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) without getting Azerbaijan’s “consent.”

Subsequently, Belarus extradited Lapshin to Azerbaijan, and a court in capital city Baku sentenced him to three years in prison.

But on September 11, 2017 Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev signed an executive order of granting pardon to this blogger.

Lapshin left Azerbaijan on September 14 and went to Israel.

It turned out, however, that Alexander Lapshin had been close to committing suicide in the Baku prison.
