YEREVAN. – In his public addresses, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to the Republic of Armenia (RA), is very discreet and mild with respect to the country’s incumbent authorities, especially to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the government he heads, according to 168 Zham (Hour) newspaper.

“The EU Delegation head, who usually delivers his words and remarks toward the activities of the RA authorities with subtexts, expresses more harshly during informal meetings.

“In political circles this is explained by [the fact] that Piotr Świtalski’s term of office concludes this year, and [therefore] the latter does not want to leave EU-Armenia relations with a problematic, strained agenda during his tenure.

“In Fall 2019, he will conclude his four-year mission in the RA,” 168 Zham wrote.
