STEPANAKERT. – President of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR), Bako Sahakyan, on Thursday attended, in capital city Stepanakert, a meeting of the Defense Army Military Council, and which was devoted to summing up the results of 2018 and discussing the action plan for 2019.

In his remarks at the event, the President touched upon the activities carried out in army-building, and gave instructions toward proper implementation of the tasks set for the current year, Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Sahakyan assessed the works that were carried out in 2018 as satisfactory, stressing that the Defense Army had reliably carried out its mission of protecting the country and the people, kept the borders of the state impenetrable, and made an important contribution in maintaining stability and peace in the region.

Focusing on the plans for 2019, the President stressed that daily hard and systematic work would be required for their effective implementation, and expressed a conviction that the Defense Army and all its divisions shall continue to do everything possible for the proper fulfillment of the set tasks.

“The state, in turn, will always pay special attention to the matters of army-building, consistent increase of the combat-readiness of our Armed Forces, resolution of the social and living issues of the servicemen,” Bako Sahakyan noted.
