Over 1,120 citizens of India received resident status in Armenia in 2015, in 2017 - 938, in 2018 - about 2000. Armen Ghazaryan, Head of the State Migration Service of Armenia, stated during the discussion of migration issues organized by the National Agenda Foundation on January 24 .

A total of 21,061 Indian citizens have entered Armenia in the first nine months of 2018, but 18,095 of them later departed from the country.

 “Thus,  there are about 3,000 citizens of India in Armenia,” explained Ghazaryan. 

In turn,  Yerkir Tsirani (Apricot Country) party Zaruhi Postanjyan stated that she had direct contact with the Indian citizens living in Armenia, and noted that in general they are satisfied with life in the republic.

At the same time, she stressed that it is about students studying in Armenia who were able to find temporary work. “Over time, they will turn to us for Armenian citizenship. We must be prepared and prepare all legal mechanisms in order not to face possible problems in the future as we are a member of the Council of Europe, ”Postanjyan recalled.
