There is threatening emigration from Armenia - the country ranks first in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Lilit Galstyan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnakstutyun (ARF-D) stated in Parliament.
She stressed that the most creative people, with higher and specialized secondary educations, are leaving the country. “If it goes on like this, emigration will reach 200,000 people, as the U.N. reports, with the reproduction rate in the country being 54% against 84% in the past. According to the U.N., with such rates the Armenian population will decease down to 1.5 million within few years,” Galstyan said. She pointed out that the Armenian authorities are not taking any steps to curb emigration. On they contrary, they fuel it.
