YEREVAN. – Iran is interested in post-election developments in Armenia, and at the same time in Armenia’s position on American sanctions against Tehran, political analyst Arman Navasardyan told reporters.

“Foreign policy approaches have not changed after the visit of John Boloton as well, including, on Iran. The Americans consider our relations given the specific situation of Armenia, however, a lot of things can change,” Navasardyan explained.

According to him, the Iranians are unhappy with the current relations between our countries in political, economic and other areas.

“They are dissatisfied with the slow progress of the North-South highway construction, as well as with the fact that some sections are not being operated. Nothing has been done on the Artashat-Megri section of the road. Building a road is important in order to start an economic boom in the country,” he said.

Navasardyan added that it is important that Armenia could become a link between Iran and the United States, as well as between Iran and the Eurasian Union market.

“In addition, there are opportunities for the development of trilateral relations between Armenia, Iran and the EU, in particular, in the banking sector,” he said.

Navasardyan stressed that there are certain problems between other countries of the region and Iran: “th struggle with Turkey for influence in the region, copying with presence of a 20-million Azerbaijani community, as well as Azerbaijan's close military and technical cooperation with Israel".
