The fight against corruption is very important and should be comprehensive, EU ambassador to Armenia Piotr Switalski told reporters on Tuesday.

According to him, "there is now the necessary political will, which is very important, because everything starts with the political will," but it is not enough as other elements are needed as laws, institutions and the pelvic climate of the culture.

"The new Armenian government wants to create a new independent anti-corruption committee and if we are approached to provide assistance, we are in constructive mood and we will be able to come," he said.

According to him, there are certain legal provisions in the government program, which is the good sign.

The social intolerance for corruption is achieved by various methods, the envoy noted.

"We are ready to help, but the initiative should come from the Armenian side," he said.
